English Name: Toasted Sesame Oil Korean Name: 참기름 Other Names: Sesame oil, Roasted Sesame Oil Romanized: Chamgireum or Chamkireum Storage: Keep in cool, dark area. Classified Under: Milled Wikipedia Entry When a Korean recipe calls for sesame oil, it's always toasted sesame oil, never raw sesame oil. Any sesame oil you buy at a Korean grocery will be toasted. Beware as sesame oil sold in American groceries may be from untoasted/raw sesame. This has a completely different flavor and should not be used in Korean cooking. When buying sesame oil, buy good quality sesame oil. Cheap sesame oil has little to no flavor and as a result dishes which rely on sesame flavor suffer in flavor. If you can't decide, just buy the most expensive one. A good brand available almost everywhere is Kadoya.
